Still screaming about those Valentines.

Yes, I'm still making Valentines from last years' Simon Says Stamp Limited Edition card kit.  I hope to heck I've learned my lesson now.  I see this years kit and I can see the appeal. But no. Just no. No more Valentines Kits. No more sticker-heavy kits, either. There, I've said it.

The cute little monster is propped up on an action wobble spring. In real life he shakes and wobbles when you touch him.

This one is like yesterday's card, with a monster from My Favorite Things' Monster Sized. I also created the inside greeting from the same set, substituting "Greetings" for "Love".

All the rest are from the kit and its stickers. I am not doing any more, I quit.

Oh, and I picked up yesterday's card to add some touches and embellishments and promptly dropped it into the open Versamark Ink pad.  It is totally ruined. I am not too broken up about it, either.

Scream! It's Valentine's Day!

Can you tell I have a bad attitude about this? I still have a bunch of stuff in that Simon Says Stamp kit from a year ago, but I am sick of lovey cards. And it's not even February yet. I'm going to give them away, of course, but still, I'm tired of them.

So, I decided to make cards that just say "Happy Valentine's Day". Well, the only sentiments in my stash that say that are mixed sets that cover everything.  I decided to go snarky and pulled out more of these My Favorite Things' "Monster Sized" and I cut up the sentiment that said "Scream! It's your birthday" and cobbled this one together.

It's missing something. More hearts, maybe? I'm still working out if I'll decorate the inside or not.

My favorite cat lady!

Another one for the My Favorite Things' Color Challenge.  The colors for this one are still Limelight, Kraft, Blu Raspberry and Sno Cone.

I colored 3 little cats from MFT's "Love You Furever" set on kraft colored paper, with Polychromos pencils. I then set them over the little hearts cut with the "Hearts in a Row, Horizontal" Dienamics. The blue background was stamped with the Romantic Script background stamp with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.

Valentine Card Kit, Part 2.

About this time last year I bought a card kit from Simon Says Stamp. It was the Limited Edition Valentine Kit for 2018. I wrote about it here.  It came with tons of stuff, and it was a very good value.  At least it would have been a good value if I had the inspiration to use all that stuff.  The main feature of the kit was a large page of stickers.

This year I took out the kit. I had kept it all together since I had barely made a dent in it,and I'm determined to use it up, or almost up.  So, my first plan of attack is the stickers.  It might be another case of sticker sneeze, but here goes.  In order to beef them up, I cut many hearts and postage-stamp edged rectangles from traditional Valentine's colors - red, pink and white. I sneaked in a couple of gold hearts, too.

I heat embossed the scripty background in white on the pink rectangle. The ribbon was from my stash also.

These weren't exactly stickers, more like ephemera. My focal point is a bit spread around on this one.

So freaking pink. Does this remind you of Valentine cards you made in elementary school with construction paper? But, there's no stamping or coloring on any of these. Hey, it's progress.  We'll see what else I can come up with.

Then I have to see if I can give these puppies away, since I don't mail Valentines.

Rock That Crown!

So today I am attempting to do 2 challenges at the same time. This usually results in a mediocre card. I'm OK with this one, sort of, so I'm putting it out there anyway.

This week I'm doing both MFT challenges. The color challenge, # 109, includes Limelight, Kraft, Blu Raspberry and Sno Cone.

The sketch challenge, #419 is this one:

The kraft colored crown is a simple shape I've had in my die cut cup for years. I don't remember when I got the die, it's just there. I bejeweled it and added it to an appropriately shaped wonky stitched circle. If I didn't need the kraft in there I would have completely covered it in pretty sparkly things.  There is a strip of Tonic Nuvo drops in gold on the bottom brim. The sentiment is from my newly acquired MFT "Queen for a Day" sentiment set, and stamped in Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink.

Cheers, again!

Here we have a couple more cards from the December My Favorite Things' card kit, "A Good Time to Wine".  All die cutting, no coloring. The only stamping was on the sentiment for the second one.

Work those Polychromos! Just work them better, please!

Why yes, I am going to use those frogs I colored with my Polychromos pencils, even if they are not colored well.

These frogs are from My Favorite Things' Toad-ally Awesome set. I colored some green ones and some red ones.  While I am not happy with the results, I'm going to use them on cards, anyway.

The sentiments for the pink card are from Hero Arts, a really ancient set. Ancient by card making standards these days, that is.

The plaid backgrounds are from MFT also.  These were supposed to be for a sketch challenge, but I missed the deadline, again. Good grief.
