Does coffee give you wings, too?

Yes, I confess, I just couldn't wait to give my coffee cup wings.  The coffee cup die is from Simon Says Stamp, and the wings are from Spellbinders.

This was from the "use it up" spree I had back in March. I love the polka dot envelope I made to coordinate with it.

Coffee themed cards, what could go wrong?

I fell into the alcohol ink fad and went a little crazy on this background.  I was determined to use it for the Spring Coffee Lover's Bloghop. But everything I did looked more like the fall to me. 

I used my coffee cup die from My Favorite Things, and the little fox was in my stash of colored critters. I think this one is from The Alleyway Stamps.

Next up, I used the cute little coffee cups from Simon Says Stamp, and a sentiment from Pretty Cute Stamps. I colored the inlaid bits with some more of the alcohol ink, or my Copic markers.

What could go wrong? Well for starters I didn't notice that this guy's arm fell out until I was editing the picture. What you can see is the backside of the washi tape that is supposed to hold these bits in place.  I  think maybe they are not sticky enough to do the job.

Secondly, the sentiment strip is covering the stamped and embossed sentiment that sort of disappeared into the background. 

Thirdly, my yellow Nuvo drops have gone funny on me.  The bottle is always clogged, and the drops are either too thick or spread too much by turns. I think it was the tapping that knocked the arm out of the coffee mug.

Do you see her crown? It's so tiny it disappears on her head. I do believe I need more coffee today.

Another cute example of My Favorite Thing's Polar Bear Pals, on a background of Lawn Fawn's Let's Bokeh in the Snow paper. The inside sentiment reads: Have a Beary Merry Christmas.

So, how have YOU bean?

So, the last week and half around here has been all about Hurricane Irma. Since I live on the southeast coast of Florida, it looked like it was going to hit us, and hard. People usually don't start striping the stores of bread and water until 2 days before, but this time it was about 5 days ahead.

Anyway, we got a lot of tree damage, and many people lost power, for days. I was fortunate not to, thank God.

I made this card for the 2107 Fall Coffee Lover's Blog Hop. I also used the current sketch challenge at My Favorite Things. Whew!

I colored the "Bitty Bears" from My Favorite Things Stamps with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, and put them with coffee mugs on die-cut leaves. The mug is from MFT's "Our Story", and the leaves are from some older Lawn Fawn dies. The coffee sentiment is from Pretty Cute Stamps' "Coffee Sentiments". The plaid paper is from Lawn Fawn. It is hard to see in the photo, but I used the tiny leaves and acorn stamp from MFT's "Wild Woodland" to stamp the brown borders with a tone on tone subtle pattern.

Let the coffee cards begin!

It's that time again! Time for the Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop, gotta love it!

My first card for the hop is a stack of cups cut with a no-name die. I cut the die 4 times and hand trimmed it so that each cup could be it's own pattern.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things. and the scalloped panel is cut with a die from Gina Marie Designs.

Cups of cheer!

Well, hooray for coffee, and hooray for the Winter Coffee Lover's Blog Hop. Today's cards, 3 different ones, feature the go-cup from Sunny Studio's "Mug Hugs" set. I paper pieced the cups and mounted them to rectangles with wonky stitching.

Here's a close-up of the Wink of Stella on the cup's sleeve. The glitter and sparkle doesn't show up in the main photo.  The card below is the first one I did, and afterwards I decided that it looked better with only one cup. The ivy and snowman decorations on the left cup are coated with glossy accents.

I have a short attention span, and there is a reason I don't do a lot of the same card. I have leftover cups and bases for more of these and I really want to move on to a different color combo and style.

Warm polar bear greetings!

This is the card that took all day. Seriously, I had this blog post all written out with everything that went sideways with this card. Then I deleted it because it was tedious. I did it once already, you know?

The smiling bear is another from My Favorite Things' Polar Bear Pals. I used several different MFT dies for the background and sentiment strip. The two things that really slowed me down are the silver thread on the round panel, and the little coffee mug. I simply didn't have a mug stamp small enough in scale, so I improvised with a cup from Your Next Stamp that was part of an espresso machine. Oy vey.

So, this is my first entry into the 2016 Winter Coffee Lover's Blog Hop.  The inside has the "Have a BEARY  merry Christmas" sentiment that I used on a previous card.

Coffee before talkie!

I'm still keeping things very simple. The coffee cup and pot images are from Pretty Cute Stamps, as is the tiny "before talkie" tag. The word "COFFEE" is die cut with an alphabet set from My Favorite Things.

I'm not sure who I would send this card to, however. Anyone I'd say this to already knows it.

Pumpkin Spice Latte time!

Yay, I am loving this coffee lover's blog hop, and wish I had a touch more mojo this go around.  

Today's card is a simple cup with simple sentiments. The PSL on the cup die cut cup stands for "Pumpkin Spice Latte", of course. 

The cup die, banner die, and stamped sentiment are all from My Favorite Things, and the paper is from an old stack in my stash that's lost it's cover.

It's the last entry for the Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop. This card features some of the products I bought at the My Favorite Things store last week. The coffee cup die, the coffee sentiment, and the scalloped border are all from last week MFT store haul. The "Hi" sentiment and the black and white stripped paper were from previous, online purchases. The butterscotch and brown papers are from Lawn Fawn's Let's Polka Mon Ami 6x6 pad.

Looking at the photo of the card, you can't tell if the butterscotch piece is the negative of a previous frame cut, or the background to the brown cut.

Kitty in a cup

I got this little kitty stamp as a bonus for purchasing a magazine. She's adorable! This is the last of the 4 blended coffee cups I did a while back. I used Distress inks,  misted them and dried with a paper towel to create some texture. The cup is a Simon Says Stamp die. The letters for "THANKS" are the pieces that dropped out of the SSS scalloped border thanks die.

It's another case of using paper so old that I can't remember where I got it. I THINK I got it at a Tuesday Morning, so it was even old when it was new (to me).

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Another cup of thanks

Another coffee-themed card for the Summer Coffee Lover's blog hop.  This little cup was blended with Distress inks, spritzed and patted dry for texture, and centered on a peek-a-boo stitched window panel (My Favorite Things). The cup is from a Simon Says Stamp die. The sentiment is from SSS Sketchy Banner sayings, on a sketchy banner die.

The patterned paper is so old I can't remember where or when I got it. I guess it is good to use up old stuff, right? Since I just bought up a whole bunch of new stuff, the old has got to go!

I just got back from a visit to my brother's house which is very near the My Favorite Things store in Eustis, Florida. I bought quite a few things while I was there, so I should be mentioning their name in a lot of posts in the future. Quite a few things.

Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

Today I am jumping into the Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop with a card I actually finished last week. I have been out of town for the last week and away from my tools and supplies.

I used one of  my new "on the edge" dies from MFT for the "celebrate" part of the sentiment, and Milo's ABCs (Lawn Fawn) for the Hip Hip Hurray portion. You can't really see it here, but the rectangles for the cups are cut with a stitched photo frame die from Pretty Pink Posh. The "coffee" stamp is from an old The Alley Way Stamps set (Breakfast Club). The mugs are paper pieced with a stamp from Your Next Stamp.

On a side note, who knew there were so many different ways to spell "hurray"? After I started worrying about that, none of them looked right.

Another one for today! The background is a watercolor splat, the banner is a Sketchy Banner stamp and die from Simon Says Stamp, and the coffee cup is blended with Distress inks and cut with a Simon Says Stamp coffee cup die. 

Now, true story. I placed an order last week for several SSS items in a sale they were having of their exclusive designs. I thought about the Birthday Flowers stamp all week. I must have had 10 different cards made up in my head in the few short days I was waiting for the stamp.  But, when I opened the package, the first thing I had to do was play with the coffee cup. Go figure. 

I guess it was a good thing I just happened to have this background mounted on yellow striped paper and a card base already, right?

Now I think I'll go play with the flowers. I have 2 background stamps on order and I need to stop thinking about them until I've used at least half of what I got yesterday.

Coffee and books = happiness!

This was supposed to be a quick card, but nothing went like I thought it should. The image is from Your Next Stamp's Teariffic set. The stack of books has thin lines which make it a challenge to watercolor neatly. I know, watercolor doesn't have to be neat, but it would have been better if I hadn't been so hungry. I kind of had the shakes and didn't figure out until I was assembling the parts and completely misaligned the cover card on the base. AKKKK!

When I first started, I envisioned the stack of books on the plaid paper, representing books on a tablecloth, but it just didn't work.

I also pulled out my little cup of home made enamel dots. Remember a couple of years back when it was a fad to bake up Perler beads to make the dots? Then sequins took over and enamel dots took a back seat to them. In my cup of dots I didn't have 3 matching pink dots. Imagine that!

I can see why sequins are better, since they sparkle and are less likely to mess with the postal machines. 

What's brewing?

I love that little pig from Lawn Fawn! Today's coffee card also features the coffee pot and sentiment from Pretty Cute Stamps' Coffee Faces. It's all on the windows of a Pretty Pink Posh filmstrip die. Very simple, actually.

What do you mean we're out of coffee?

Today is the start of the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! I'm happy to do my coffee-themed cards, and to share them!

This crab is part of the Pretty Cute Stamp's Moody Crabs set, and the sentiment is from Pretty Cute Stamp's Coffee Faces. Disclaimer: I won a gift certificate from Pretty Cute Stamps back during the last Coffee Lover's blog hop, and they really are so cute!

The crab was colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, then fussy cut. He has glossy accents on his eyes. The background was squished and squashed with inexpensive watercolors from Michael's. The background on the main panel was stamped with a coffee bean and cup stain from The Alley Way Stamp's Breakfast Club.

Finally, the sentiment was stamped on a Sketchy Banner tag from Simon Says Stamp.

This is how I felt when staying at my cousin's house a decade or so back. I got over the trauma but I still remember it vividly.

Today is Day 2 of the Holiday Coffee Lovers Bloghop.

I just love the little monster from TAWS' Oogles set. I masked off his horns and added the "antlers" and a cocoa mug, colored him up, cut him out, and put him on this very simple landscape background.  The sentiment is from an older set by Hero Arts. I fell in love with the typewriter font and sentiments on it, and I use it at least once every year now. I used my white gel pen to add snow to the trees and a few marshmallows to his hot drink.

Stamps used: TAWS' (The Alley Way Stamps) Oogles, TAWS' Penguins on Parade, Your Next Stamp's Perk Up! and Hero Arts'CL463 Get Merry.

Dies used: Lawn Fawn's Forest Hill border and Lawn Fawn's Puffy Stitched Cloud border.

Tomorrow is national cocoa day, so I'm just barely ahead of the curve here. Can't say I've ever done that with a card before.

Today's Christmas music is Brian Setzer's Orchestra -- Rocking Rudolph.  Who knew the Flintstone's theme music would make a great Christmas song?

Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

It's time for the Summer Coffee Loving Papercrafter's Blog Hop, and boy is it a big one! So far there are 242 wonderful cards about coffee linked up.

My set of coffee cup stamps has not arrived yet, so in order to participate in the blog, I had to use the tiny tea cup from an older Lawn Fawn set. Based on the size of the cup, I knew I had to have someone holding the cup while talking about coffee.

It's a mashup alright. The critter is from The Alley Way Stamps' set Oogles, the teacup is from Lawn Fawn's Your're Tea-riffic, and the sentiment is cobbled together from TAWS' Feeling Groovy and Lawn Fawn's Harold's ABCs and MILO's ABCs.

I hope to be back later in the week with another coffee card. I have 5 more days for the new stamps to come in and get creative with them.
