Honoring Mimi by using her craft stash

My mom, Mimi, was an artist and a crafter. After she died in 2000, I took home a lot of her craft stash.

One of the items that had me baffled were card bases with fancy front edges. I'd never seen that kind before, and that was before I got into card making.  The card bases were in their original Jo-Ann's packaging.

Well, DUH, Mimi had cut the edges herself with decorative scissors. How many years did it take me to figure that one out?  About 17 years, that's how long.

This fall I am trying to use up pre-made card bases and since these are at least 20 years old, they must be among the first ones used.

This first card features a sentiment die, some glitter snowflakes, and some red decorative tape.  The tape is a dollar store find.

This card features the pink paper from Michael's called Sugar Blush.  It's one of the 6x6 pads I picked up just after Christmas last year.  The sentiment is a die from Simon Says Stamp, and the gold glitter snowflakes are from My Favorite Things' layered Snowflake Splendor kit from 2 years ago.

This card features the pink paper from Sugar Blush (Michael's), the layered tree from Pretty Pink Posh, and the sentiment from Concord and 9th.  I cut the tree parts from paper I had glittered with glitter gel. I also applied the glitter gel around the edges of the pink panel.

For each of these cards, I put a strip of patterned paper on the bottom inside, to contrast with Mimi's fancy cut bottom edge.  I've a few more of these card bases to use up, and I will remember Mimi with each and every one I do.  I sure miss her.

Yay for you! Here's a Hug!

Aren't these bears the cutest in their little Polaroid frames? These are almost the last of the My Favorite Things "Bitty Bears" that I had colored up a couple of weeks ago. Only one more left!

Both patterned papers are from My Favorite Things, and the Polaroid Frames are from Pretty Pink Posh.  The colored backgrounds behind the bears are inked with Twisted Citron and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks.

Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

Today I am jumping into the Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop with a card I actually finished last week. I have been out of town for the last week and away from my tools and supplies.

I used one of  my new "on the edge" dies from MFT for the "celebrate" part of the sentiment, and Milo's ABCs (Lawn Fawn) for the Hip Hip Hurray portion. You can't really see it here, but the rectangles for the cups are cut with a stitched photo frame die from Pretty Pink Posh. The "coffee" stamp is from an old The Alley Way Stamps set (Breakfast Club). The mugs are paper pieced with a stamp from Your Next Stamp.

On a side note, who knew there were so many different ways to spell "hurray"? After I started worrying about that, none of them looked right.

We're gonna need a bigger cake.

Isn't she fabulous?  I needed birthday cards, so I headed off to the Avery Elle "Hello chum" stamp set that I have been giggling over for almost a month now.

She's just popping out of the front, so pleased to be there! The front "burst" is a die from Pretty Pink Posh that I've had for a while, too.

The inside has a cake from The Alley Way Stamps.

I figure I could send these cards to a guy or a gal. Or maybe a teen, but probably not a kid.

Incidentally, you know those card makers that can't stop embellishing? I'm not one of them. I was going to put on some sequins, but I think they are fine without.

What's brewing?

I love that little pig from Lawn Fawn! Today's coffee card also features the coffee pot and sentiment from Pretty Cute Stamps' Coffee Faces. It's all on the windows of a Pretty Pink Posh filmstrip die. Very simple, actually.

It's another entry for the Spring Coffee Loving Cardmaker's Bloghop. Go Blog!

Peppermint Everything!

Yay! It's time for the Holiday Coffee Lover's Bloghop! I'm actually on time for it this time, so here we go. I copied this design more or less, from Holly Endress. The coffee mugs, puffs of steam, and the small holly sprig are from The Alley Way Stamps' set Breakfast Club. The large sprig, candy cane and sentiment are from TAWS' Mistletoe Kisses set. I topped it off with a few Cranberry sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. I don't know if you can tell, but the cups are paper pieced, and the holly and candy cane are stamped, fussy-cut and applied on top. I used paper from an old My Mind's Eye Christmas 6x6 pad.

True story : I'm obsessed with most things peppermint. It is so yummy! Several years ago I found this  mint coffee in Target, and it was my favorite mint coffee until I discovered the mocha mint sugar-free creamer.

This year I saw these. What can I say? I haven't even cooked any yet but I have eaten a good-sized chunk of the dough. Yum.
