One of my oldest possessions is going in the trash today.

I've had a down feather pillow since the 1960's. Yes it's at least 50 years old and I use it every night.  I keep making new covers for it, and I have washed it a few times, too. It was my favorite squishy body pillow and I took it with me when I traveled because there was nothing like it anywhere I went.

Yesterday I washed it for the first time in my front loading machine, and it unbalanced the load and I ended up wrapping it in towels and stepping on it to get the extra water out. First of all, the water was yellow/brown. Yuck.

To my surprise, some of the stuffing came out and it WASN'T DOWN, it was shredded foam! Imagine it, shredded foam from the '60s. It was dark mustard brown and super crumbly.

I've been living a lie all this time! My down pillow was cheap-o shredded foam. It has been getting smaller and flatter and now I know why. The foam was just collapsing.

Today I went to Bed Bath & Beyond to try to replace it, but you know nothing will be exactly like my old faker. So I went to Jo-Ann's and got some pillow ticking and 2 different kinds of stuffing. Maybe something will at least be OK? 50 years is a long time to have a pillow.

My missing "i" has been found like the 99th (or100th?) sheep!

Yes, my missing "i" was found, on the floor under my craft desk. It was all dusty, so that's why the flashlight was no help finding it on the floor. It was that odd sensation of stepping on something soft and stretchy that made me go "hmmmm".

I washed that thing up and stuck it back on it's backing.

There is something to be said for not cleaning up the floor on a regular basis. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Sticking, get it??  Hee hee.

I am toadally your prince!

This cute card (one of 2 of the same design) is made with the frog from Enchanted, from The Alley Way Stamps. The sentiments were cobbled together from the Enchanted set, with letters from Gabfest and Lawn Fawn's Riley's ABCs.

And dang it if I didn't loose the "i" from Prince, right on my desktop somewhere. It fell off the acrylic block prematurely.  I have been all over the desk, under scraps (embarrassing how many) around markers (they needed to be put back in the rack anyway) on the floor around my chair, and even my ironing board. (Don't ask.). I've even used my flashlight on a low angle to make that shiny doo-dad show itself.

It may turn up, but dang it, I'm gonna miss that "i", it was the only lower case "i" in the set. Lucky I can probably substitute the exclamation point, but really.

Well, it sure got my attention

Last week I was on vacation in north/central Florida, staying with my sister in DeLand. We made a day trip up to Gainesville, where I got a library card and we visited a museum. The museum was all about dogs and wolves, with a bunch of Florida natural history thrown in. There was also a butterfly house, which was awesome.

The Devil's Millhopper is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, by the way. Phooey!!

On Friday I went by myself to see a roadside attraction I've had my eye on for years. Barberville Produce at the corner of Highways 17 and 40, has the biggest, most attention getting yard art I've ever seen.

Yes, I wanted to climb on the chickens, but they must have seen me coming. Ideally I would have had someone with me to take my picture with the big critters, but this was a solo trip for me. My sister and her man had gone to Jacksonville for a football game. Oh, and they live nearby and had already seen this place.

They had some local raw honey, limited produce, and boiled or roasted peanuts. As I wandered all over the place and took a lot of pictures, the smell of boiled peanuts was omnipresent.  I couldn't help but think of chicken soup when I saw the size of the feet on those big chickens.

Did I mention I've had my eye on this place for years? I was always on the way to somewhere else and there was no time to dawdle over this stuff.

These 2 butts are the back side of stools. Funny!

There was a lot of decorated Mexican pottery and enamel, and those bowls in back of this chichen are actual sinks. Thank goodness, I didn't see a single yard toilet in the place. Yay!

My HOA is pretty strict about yard art, so I didn't entertain the idea of bringing home a cow or dinosaur. This stuff is designed to get attention, and it certainly does.

The "produce" was tomatoes, kiwi fruit, mangoes, and watermelon. There were no green veggies. There was also some candy which I didn't look at. Yay me.

I did get a picture of my hand on the big horse's nose. This picture is my computer wallpaper, at least for a while.

Getting my pink on.

Sure, I just felt like doing some more pink cards. No excuses, I just wanted to.

The pony is from The Alley Way Stamps, as are the Happy Birthday and Hey You greetings. The dino, quote bubbles and You're dino-mite greetings are from Lawn fawn.
